Warren G
came from the Long Beach rap scene in the early
'90s, His laid-back raps
and funk-based grooves quickly became his trademark. Warren G
coined the term "G-Funk" to describe his rap style.
Full Name: Warren Griffin III
He started out as a DJ for the Long Beach rap
group 213, featuring his childhood friends Nate Dogg and Snoop Doggy
Dogg. After Snoop recorded his first demo, "Super Duper
Snooper" in 1991, G passed it along to his half-brother, Dr. Dre.
Snoop and Dre's resulting collaboration on The Chronic in 1993
officially broke the Long Beach sound into the mainstream.

In 1994 G released his own album Regulate--G-Funk
Era on Death Row Records. The single "Regulate," which
featured a reunion with Nate Dogg, became a massive hit, and the album
went triple-platinum.
